Figure Collection: Kotobukiya Ikemen Series – Red Hood/Jason Todd.

Hello Nerdy Birdies!

Happy Friday! How is your day going so far? Do you have anything excited planned for the weekend?

I’m going to a flea market on Sunday that I am really excited for. I’ll be keeping my eye out for any fun vintage finds!

In today’s post, I will be sharing the latest addition to my figure collection, and is anyone surprised that it is a figure of Jason Todd/Red Hood?

I’ll share photos first, then I’ll get into a little bit of information.

Upper Body Details

This figure was put out by Kotobukiya, and is part of the Ikemen Series.

As far as I am aware, the DC collection features Bruce/Wayne/Batman, Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Jason Todd/Red Hood, Tim Drake/Red Robin, Damian Wayne/Robin and the Joker.

I would like to try and collect them all, but Jason was the most important.

He is honestly a Holy Grail figure for my collection – the others being the statues put out by Prime1 Studios.

He stands at 9 inches tall and is made of resin. He is attached to his base with magnets. He comes with two additional heads, one being his full Red Hood helmet and the other being his face with domino mask.

He was released in 2018.

I’m so happy to have this figure in my collection, he has pride of place on my desk, surrounded by my smaller figurines.

And that is it for this post! I hope that you enjoyed! Do you happen to collect figures, do you have a favourite? If not, is there anything you collect? I’d love to hear all about it.

White Elorda’s Weekly Comic Book Haul #34: 18th September 2023

Comic Book Haul #34

Good morning Nerdy Birdies,

How was your weekend? I hope that you’re coming into this new week feeling rested and relaxed.

I’m visiting family this week, hence the lateness of this post, though I am hoping that posting early will help make up for that a little bit.

As usual, I will be going through the individual issues that I picked up this week, and then going through the graphic novels/collected works.

Let’s jump right into this week’s haul!

Individual Issues

Batman & Robin #1

Batman & Robin. Issue #1. Regular Cover.

The Dynamic Duo returns! I’ve been looking forward to this coming out for a little but, and I, looking forward to seeing how the dynamic and relationship between Bruce and Damian develops after the events of Batman vs Robin!

World’s Finest: Teen Titans #3

World’s Finest: Teen Titans. Issue #3. Variant Cover by Evan “Doc” Shaner.

The Teen Titans attend a convention with their name on it – literally. How will they cope with fans that might be a little too adoring?

I’ve really been enjoying this more modern take on the Titans, and I couldn’t resist picking up the Speedy cover to match the one I have of Robin.

Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #1

Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham. Book #1.

This Black Label story shows Batman facing off against a new serial killer terrorizing Gotham.

The art style of very different from what I’m used to from Batman comics, but I don’t hate it. I’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes!

The Plot Holes #1

The Plot Holes. Issue #1. Regular Cover.

The first time in a while that I’m reading something outside of the DC universe.

I’m a big fan of Sean Murphy’s work, so a story about book characters who travel to different books to make edits is really fascinating to me. This issue really just introduces the characters and sets up the story but I am excited to read more!

That’s it for individuals, let’s move onto the collected works!

Graphic Novels/Collected Works

Batman: Under the Red Hood – Deluxe Edition

Batman: Under the Red Hood – Deluxe Edition.

I’ve been looking forward to this being released since it was announced, and I finally have my hands on it.

This Deluxe Edition contains the entire Under the Red Hood story as well as Lost Days, which tells the story of Jason Todd before his return to Gotham. There is also some fun behind the scenes stuff.

I definitely recommend this if you’re a fan of Red Hood.

And that’s it for this week’s haul! Did you see anything that piqued your interest?

As always, I’d love to hear any suggestions you might have on. Omits you think I should read!

W. Elorda’s Tattoo Diaries: Red Hood Tattoo

Tattoo Diaries

Hello Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing this fine Thursday? I hope that the week has been treating you well so far!

I personally am really enjoying the cooler weather we’ve been having this week, it’s been quite pleasant.

Today, I’m going to be re-starting my tattoo diary posts, where I detail my experiences with getting my various tattoos! This is the first tattoo I’ve gotten in a while that hasn’t been done at a flash event, so I thought it would be a good place to re-start.

It’s also a nerdy tattoo which makes it even better.

I guess I’ll jump right in. I

’ll start with a photo of the tattoo just after I got home from the appointment.

Red Hood tattoo – 30.08.2023

On 30th August 2023 I got my 10th tattoo. I got a tattoo of Red Hood, from the Bat-Family.

This tattoo was done by Kelly Candle over at Empire Tattoo Pittsburgh.

If you’re interested in checking out the studio, you can do so here!

I got him on my forearm, just above my wrist, so he can be hidden by long-sleeves if need be.

He took just over 3 hours to complete. Pain I would say a 2 out of 5, but I am the worst person to ask as I have a fairly high pain tolerance.

I absolutely love how he turned out, and Kelly gave me everything I asked for when I put in the tattoo request. I couldn’t be happier.

As of yesterday, he is 2 weeks old, and he is healing really well. I’ll include a photo that I took yesterday to show his progress.

Red Hood tattoo – 2 weeks healed.

I really look forward to working with Kelly again on some other nerdy tattoos, including one of Nightwing, which I hope to have put on the same arm early next year.

That’s it for today’s post! I’m still trying to figure out how to branch this blog out again, so I can post on a more regular basis!

Do you have any tattoos? Any nerdy tattoos in particular? Are there any nerdy tattoos that you’re like to get, I’d have a whole list!

Please let me know what you thought of this post!

Nerdy Thrift Store Finds: Episode #1

Nerdy Thrift Store Finds

Good Afternoon Nerdy Birdies!

It’s been a while, a long while, since I’ve come at you with something new. I am going to try my best to change that, and post more to this blog.

I’m going to make a start by sharing some cool clothes I found at a local thrift store over the weekend!

Do any of you enjoy thrift shopping as well? I really love it because you never know what you’re going to find!

I picked both of these shirts up from a Plato’s Closet. They are probably the most hit or miss of all of the thrift stores that I go to. The hit or miss aspect is all part of the fun though!

Item #1

Item #1 is this Red Hood t-shirt – this is originally from the Warner Bros store in Hollywood.

I can honestly say I was incredibly surprised to find this, and I grabbed it immediately (not that I really thought anyone else was going to take it, but I didn’t want to take the chance.)

It’s just a simple black t-shirt with Red Hood logo. It’s a welcome addition to my DC shirt collection – a really cool find!

Item #2

Item #2 is this adorable Totoro shirt (I have no idea, what this cute is called!)

This shirt is originally from Torrid, and I thought it would be a really cute top for the rest of the summer, and even the early autumn.

I don’t usually wear shirts that are cut like this, it I couldn’t resist picking this one up, it just fits into my wardrobe so nicely.

Those are the two nerdy items that I found on my recent thrifting trip! I’m really happy with them!

Would you be interested in seeing more fashion from me?

I’m thinking of posting more outfits, and other nerdy fashion kind of things – I hope that you’ll enjoy when I do!

I hope that you enjoyed this post, and I look forward to posting more soon.

White Elorda’s Weekly Comic Haul #32

Comic Haul #32 – 13th August 2023

Good morning Nerdy Birdies!

How was your week? Did you get up to anything fun?

My week was busy, but in a good way. I am looking forward to a chill Sunday though!

It’s pretty rare for me to get a weekly haul out in the morning, and I can’t say that it will ever be the norm, but it seems like the right way for me to start my day today!

The Knight Terrors event continues, though I did pick up a couple of fun graphic novels this week as well.

With that all being said, let’s get right into it, shall we?

As always, I will start with the individual issues that I picked up, then I’ll get into the graphic novels/collected works.

Individual Issues

Knight Terrors #3

Knight Terrors. Issue #3. Regular Cover.

Deadman (in Batman’s body) and Wesley Dodds continue their quest to figure out the mystery of Insomnia, and the location of the Nightmare Stone he seeks. They are even joined by Damian Wayne!

Knight Terrors: Robin #2

Knight Terrors: Robin. Issue #2. Regular Cover.

I really liked this issue. Can Jason Todd and Tim Drake put aside their differences to break out of the nightmares holding them?

I really hope that this will lead into Red Hood’s role in the upcoming Gotham War storyline.

World’s Finest: Teen Titans #2

World’s Finest: Teen Titans. Issue #2. Regular Cover.

The Titans face a mysterious haunted house – what could be going on?

And that is it for the individual issues that I picked up this week, so we’ll move straight into the graphic novels/collected works.

Graphic Novels/Collected Works

Batman: The Knight.

Batman: The Knight.

I read the first issue of this quite a while ago, and since then I haven’t been able to piece together the other issues in order to continue reading.

(Just as an FYI, I don’t like reading comics online.)

So, I’ really excited to have found the graphic novel and I can finally read it all!

As a side note, Carmine Di Giandomenico is becoming one of my favourite comic book artists.

Batman: Wayne Family Adventures #1

Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. Volume #1.

Another printed edition that I am just super excited about!

This is a print version of the comic that is available on Webtoons and updates every Thursday! It is a very cute collection of little vignettes featuring all of the members of the Bat-Family, and it is a pleasant reprieve from the darkness that can be present in the mainline comics all of the time.

Definitely recommend if you think you’d enjoy a slice of life style comic featuring the Bat-Fam!

And that’s it for this week’s haul! Did you see anything that interested you?

As always, I’m happy to hear any recommendations you might have for comics I should read!

The Joker continues his nightmare of working for corporate America – but who now has taken up the role of the Batman in Gotham City?

Jon’s time in the Injustice Universe has come to an end – what lessons will he leave behind for Regime Superman?

A special featuring the witch Thessaly. Shows what she is getting up to after being freed from her imprisonment during the events of Dead Boy Detectives.

I love this variant cover of Terry and Kyle.

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #17.

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. Issue #17. Variant Cover by Cliff Chiang.

I’m actually reading this as it is release in graphic novel format, but IK really love this cover, so I couldn’t resist picking it up. Look at Green Arrow with the boxing glove arrow!

And that’s it for this week’s haul! Did you see anything of interest, or anything that you are reading for yourself? I’m always open to recommendations!

White Elorda’s Weekly Comic Haul #30

Weekly Comic Haul #30 – 30th July 2023

Hello Nerdy Birdies!

How was your week? I hope that everything went exactly as you needed it to!

My work schedule changed this week and I am still adjusting to it, so it made things very interesting for me.

I’m here to finish the week off right with my weekly comic book haul! This marks the 30th haul that I’ve posted!!

Let’s jump right in!

A quick note that I do not have any collected works or graphic novels this week, only individual issues!

Individual Issues

Knight Terrors #2

Knight Terrors. Issue #2. Regular Cover.

Deadman is still trying to discover what the Nightmare Stone is and what Insomnia wants with it. He gets the help of a long dead detective while still taking Batman’s body for a joyride!

Knight Terrors: Titans #1.

Knight Terrors: Titans. Issue #1. Regular Cover.

Titans Tower has turned the Titans’ worst nightmares against them! How will they band together to defeat it?

Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic #1

Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic. Issue #1.

Terry McGinnis (a personal favourite character of mine) is back in this follow-up to Neo-Year. Terry will have to face a new enemy that lurks in the very bowels of the Old Gotham that Neo-Gotham is built upon.

I’m really excited for this run, I really enjoyed Neo-Year, and I’m always happy to have more Terry to read!

Batman: The Brave and the Bold #3

Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Issue #3. Regular Cover.

New and continuing stories in this new world of the Brave and the Bold.

Poison Ivy: Uncovered.

Poison Ivy: Uncovered. Foil Cover Variant.

This is a collection of the variant covers from the current run of Poison Ivy. There are a couple of covers by Dan Mora in here that are really awesome.

I couldn’t resist picking up the foil variant for the cover – I love the Titanic reference.

And this is it for this week’s haul! Did you see anything that sparked your interest, or anything that you’ve been reading yourself?

White Elorda’s Weekly Comic Haul #29

Weekly Comic Haul #29

Good morning Nerdy Birdies!

Apologies for posting this late, I spent all of yesterday driving home.

How was your weekend? Do you have anything fun going on this week? I have a convention coming up this weekend that I am really excited for!

It’s time for another weekly comic haul, this time it will be starting off the week instead of finishing it.

This week’s haul only includes individual issues, so let’s jump right in shall we?

Individual Issues

Knight Terrors #1

Knight Terrors. Issue #1. Regular Cover.

The DC summer event: Knight Terrors has officially started! I enjoy horror-themed events, so I am looking forward to reading through part of this one.

I’m also looking forward to the combination of Deadman and Batman.

Knight Terrors: Robin #1

Knight Terrors: Robin. Issue #1. Regular Cover

Naturally, I have to read the Knight Terrors storyline featuring Jason Todd and Tim Drake.

Will the 2nd and 3rd Robins be able to work together to defeat their worst nightmares? I guess we’ll find out!

P.S. I really enjoy the designs of the Nightmare versions of Robin and Red Hood.

Knight Terrors: Robin #1

Knight Terrors: Robin. Issue #1. Variant Cover by James Stokoe.

The first of 2 variant covers I picked up of this issue, both featuring Jason Todd/Red Hood.

Knight Terrors: Robin #1.

Knight Terrors: Robin. Issue #1. Variant Cover by Liam Sharp.

The second variant cover that I picked up. I adore this one because of the homage to Jaws, one of my favourite films.

World’s Finest: Teen Titans #1

World’s Finest: Teen Titans. Issue #1. Variant Cover by Evan “Doc” Shaner.

I’m looking forward to getting further into this spin off from Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. This takes a modern take on the Titans, including the use of social media, so I’m curious to what direction they will go with it.

The Titans team is made up on Robin, Speedy, Bumblebee, Aqualad, Donna Troy and Kid Flash.

And that’s it for this week’s haul (or last week’s I should say!) I hope that you enjoyed it! Are you reading Knight Terrors? If so, what do you think so far?

White Elorda’s Weekly Comic Haul #28

Weekly Comic Haul #28

Good afternoon Nerdy Birdies!

How has your day been? Did you have a good week?

My week has been pretty good, even with the holiday in the middle of the work week. I had a really good catch up with a good friend yesterday and I feel really invigorated.

With all of that being said, let’s get into this week’s haul, so we can finish this week off right.

As usual, I will start off with the individual issues that I picked up, then I will move onto the collected works.

Individual Issues

Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #5

Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent. Issue #5. Regular Cover.

Jon is starting to learn more about the universe he has found himself in, and figuring out where his allegiances need to lie.

Knight Terrors: Batman #1

Knight Terrors: Batman. Issue #1. Regular Cover.

Knight Terrors begins this month. I am looking forward to seeing how this summer event plays out.

Batman’s story revolves around the nightmare of losing his parents.

Knight Terrors: The Joker #1

Knight Terrors: The Joker. Issue #1. Regular Cover.

The Joker is struggling with being the perfect Wayne Enterprises employee – how will he handle working an average job with a Batman shaped skeleton in his closet?

And that is it for individuals issues for the week. This month’s lists will be a little shorter due to the Knight Terrors event going on.

With that being said, let’s move onto the collected works!

Collected Works/Graphic Novels

Batman: Three Jokers: Absolute Edition.

Batman: Three Jokers: Absolute Edition.

Three Jokers is one of my favourite DC Black Label storylines so I was excited to pick up this Absolute Edition.

This has the complete Three Jokers as well as behind the scenes stuff like sketches and storyboards. I love that extra information so these absolute editions are worth it to me.

And that’s it for this week’s haul! I hope that you enjoyed it!

Weekly Comic Haul #27

Good morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you this morning? Today is my birthday, so I am posting this a lot earlier than I usually do!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful week! I don’t have any complaints about mine, so we’ll just get into the haul.

As always, I’ll start with the individual issues and then move onto the graphic novels/collected works!

Let’s begin, shall we?

Individual Issues

Batman: The Brave and the Bold #2

Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Issue #2. Variant Cover.

The stories in the first issue really captivated me, so I decided to continue picking this one up. I also really enjoy the Black & White vignettes.

The Riddler: Year One #5

The Riddler: Year One. Issue #5. Regular Cover.

We’re really starting to see Edward’s descent into becoming the Riddler. One more issue to go.

Tim Drake: Robin #10

Tim Drake: Robin. Issue #10. Regular Cover.

This is the last issue of this series, thanks to it being cancelled (along with Batgirls) which is really a shame, as I’ve really been enjoying watching Tim strike out on his own, while also trying to figure out his relationship with Bernard.

Tim Drake: Robin #10

Tim Drake: Robin. Issue #10. Variant Cover by Glev Melonov.

I just really like this cover.

And that’s it for the individual issues, so we’ll move onto the graphic novels!

Graphic Novels

Nightwing. Vol 3: The Battle for Bludhaven’s Heart.

Nightwing: Volume #3 – The Battle for Bludhaven’s Heart.

This volume wraps up the last of the Blockbuster saga in the current run of Nightwing.

I always love the variant cover galleries that they include at the end of these collected editions.

And that’s it for this week’s haul! I hope that you enjoyed!
