Hello Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing this fine Thursday? I hope that the week has been treating you well so far!

I personally am really enjoying the cooler weather we’ve been having this week, it’s been quite pleasant.

Today, I’m going to be re-starting my tattoo diary posts, where I detail my experiences with getting my various tattoos! This is the first tattoo I’ve gotten in a while that hasn’t been done at a flash event, so I thought it would be a good place to re-start.

It’s also a nerdy tattoo which makes it even better.

I guess I’ll jump right in. I

’ll start with a photo of the tattoo just after I got home from the appointment.

On 30th August 2023 I got my 10th tattoo. I got a tattoo of Red Hood, from the Bat-Family.

This tattoo was done by Kelly Candle over at Empire Tattoo Pittsburgh.

I got him on my forearm, just above my wrist, so he can be hidden by long-sleeves if need be.

He took just over 3 hours to complete. Pain I would say a 2 out of 5, but I am the worst person to ask as I have a fairly high pain tolerance.

I absolutely love how he turned out, and Kelly gave me everything I asked for when I put in the tattoo request. I couldn’t be happier.

As of yesterday, he is 2 weeks old, and he is healing really well. I’ll include a photo that I took yesterday to show his progress.

I really look forward to working with Kelly again on some other nerdy tattoos, including one of Nightwing, which I hope to have put on the same arm early next year.

That’s it for today’s post! I’m still trying to figure out how to branch this blog out again, so I can post on a more regular basis!

Hello Nerdy Birdies!

How are you all doing? I hope that you had a good weekend, whatever that entailed.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted to this section of the blog, but I hope to be able to add more to it this year, and that is my Tattoo Diaries.

I’ve actually gotten a number of new tattoos since I last updated this, but I’m only going to cover my most recent ones and go from there!

Tattoo #9

My 9th and most recent tattoo is this adorable bird, in the traditional style, complete with red details.

I got this guy as part of a Friday the 13th flash event hosted by Inspire Body Art – he was $120 (not including tip). As soon as I saw him as part of the flash sheets I knew that I wanted this tattoo.

The red details are an homage to the Red Hood, my favourite DC character, with the bird symbolizing how he started off as Robin.

The artist I was assigned was Mohawk Jesse, who was awesome!

I hope to go to more tattoo flash events throughout the year, so watch this space for more tattoos! One of my goals for the year is to also get another nerdy tattoo, but you’ll have to wait and see what it is!
