Good morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing today? How has your week been going so far?

My week has been going pretty well. I got back from Katsucon on Monday, and have been recovering for the past couple of days.

What better way to chill out after a convention than with new comic books?

Let’s get into this week’s round up of new releases that I picked up from DC Comics!

Batman. Issue #144. Cover A.

The final part of Joker: Year One. What will be revealed about the origin of Batman’s Greatest Foe?

Nightwing. Issue #111. Cover A.

Heartless in Gotham City? Nightwing is back in Gotham helping Batman hunt down a killer, who has left a young child as an orphan. Something painfully familiar to both Dick and Bruce. What is the truth?

John Constantine once again finds himself seeking out Swamp Thing.

Batman: City of Madness. Issue #3. Cover A.

The Lovecraftian horror continues.

I also added a new graphic novel to my library as well!

Knight Terrors: Dark Knightmares.

This collects all of the Knight Terrors of Gotham., including Batman, Nightwing, Detective Comics, Robin and Catwoman.

I really enjoyed these stories, so I am looking forward to re-reading them.

New Comic Day – 13th February 2024

Hello my Nerdy Birdies!

How are you all doing today? I hope that the week has been treating you well so far!

I’m having a decent week so far! I traveled to Katsucon today, which has left me feeling pretty tired, but that’s OK! I’m looking forward to some nerdy fun!

Speaking of nerdy fun, I picked up my new comics from DC yesterday, and it’s time for me to share what I picked up!

Let’s get right into it, shall we?

Batman. Issue #143. Cover A.

Part 2 of Joker: Year One. I’m still pretty confused by this story so far, it feels a bit disjointed, though I suppose that makes sense for the Joker.

It is interesting seeing the Joker go through the same training as Bruce, with a very different outcome!

Batman & Robin. Issue #6. Cover A.

I’m really enjoying this series, mostly because it is showing Damian as a normal kid, or at least in normal kid situations. I really feel for him being bullied just because he is different.

I’m also glad to see some cute Father/Son moments between him and Bruce.

Red Hood: The Hill. Issue #1. Cover A.

I’m excited to see Jason get his own mini-series, especially as this picks up at the end of his RHATO Rebirth run.

I’m really hoping for no romantic storyline for him, and just some good (or any) character development.

Of course, I will be collecting all of the variant covers for this series.

Justice League: Death Metal.

The latest addition to my graphic novel library! I will admit that I picked this up for Dick Grayson with his ponytail, but I am excited to read it!

New Comic Day – 6th February 2024

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing today? I hope that the week has been treating you well so far. Are you looking forward to the weekend?

My week has been going pretty well so far. I am still getting a new pet settled in at my home, which has been an adventure.

As it is Wednesday, it’s time to round up the comic books that I picked up on release day for DC Comics. This week is another small haul, but I am really excited about it!

Let’s jump right into it, shall we?

Batman. Issue #142. Cover A.

Joker: Year One is here. Will we finally learn the true origin of the Clown Prince of Crime? Can we trust one of the most unreliable narrators of all time?

Red Hood: The Hill. Issue #0. Cover A.

To prepare for Jason Todd’s new mini-series (issue #1 is releasing next week), DC released the last 2 issues of the Red Hood Rebirth run to provide the setup for Red Hood’s next adventure.

As Red Hood is my favourite comic book character, I am excited to read something new for him. I will keep my fingers crossed that this next chapter treats the character well, and we can actually see something new for him.

Batman: Justice Buster. Volume 2.

I am usually hesitant when it comes to Manga based upon characters from western comics, so I did not expect to enjoy the first volume of this as much as I did.

The release of this surprised me, I hadn’t been looking for it, but I am really looking forward to reading it, and seeing how this futuristic Batman meets, and deals with Superman.

This is a really cute story actually of Father/Son bonding time between Bruce and Damian.

Titans: Beast World. Issue #6. Cover A.

The final chapter in the Beast World story! How will the Titans bring the beasts to heel without any unnecessary loss of life?

I guess we’ll find out.

New Comic Day – 23rd January 2024

Good afternoon Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing today? How has the week been treating you so far? Are you looking forward to the weekend?

My day is going pretty well so far, though I had kind of a rough night last night. I’m excited for the weekend though!

It’s that time of week again, time to share the comics I picked up on this week’s New Comic Day. This week was pretty light, but let’s get into it!

Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Issue #9. Batman Variant Cover by Bruno Redondo.

I absolutely couldn’t resist this awesome cover by Bruno Redondo! HIs take on the classic art from Batman: The Animated Series is seriously awesome. I really miss him as the main artist for the current run of Nightwing.

Titans: Beast World. Issue #5. Variant Cover by

The Titans try to come to terms with the loss of one of their own as Amanda Waller’s plan is unleashed, and it might end in the deaths of over a million people! Also, the true identity of Doctor Hate is revealed?! Everything will come to an end in the next issue!

I’ve actually been enjoying this storyline quite a lot, it feels like a good use of Amanda Waller’s character, and I’m curious to see where the Titans will go after Beast World comes to an end.

Happy New Comic Book Day!

Hello Nerdy Birdies!

How are you day? How is your week going so far?

I’m doing pretty well today! I am enjoying the mixture of calm and winter weather, even though it is giving me a little bit of whiplash.

I know that in my last post, I mentioned that I would be sharing my new comics on Tuesdays; well I have to move that to Wednesdays so I can be more consistent with my posting. I usually visit my local comic books store after work, and sometimes I get back too late to post what I picked up, so I’m just going to post everything on Wednesdays!

I hope that makes sense!

With that being said, let’s jump right in, and I can show you the new comics I picked up this week!

Nightwing. Issue #110. Cover A.

Nightwing and Superman (Jon Kent) search for Damian, who has been changed into an adorable(?) kitty who is being made to fight other Beasts. Will they find him before he gets in trouble?

A tie-in with Titans Beast World.

Also, I got a really good laugh out of this cover by Bruno Redondo.

Nightwing. Issue #110. Variant Cover by Travis Moore and Adriano Lucas.

I love seeing Dick in Travis Moore’s art style, and this cover is just so cute and wholesome.

Nightwing. Issue #110. Variant Cover by Dan Mora.

Dan Mora has been killing it recently with these Nightwing variant covers. I am glad to have this in my collection.

Titans. Issue #7. Cover A.

Beast World continues, and the true identity of Brother Eternity has been revealed. Can Tempest be broken free of Eternity’s control?

Also we finally get to see Nightwing’s foxy beast transformation!

John Constantine: Hellblazer – Dead in America #1

John Constantine: Hellblazer – Dead in America. Issue #1. Cover A.

What will Constantine’s next “adventure” have in store for him? What messes will he get himself into now?

Poison Ivy. Issue #18. Cover A.

I will admit that I only picked this one up because the cover intrigued me. I have to catch up with the rest of the series before I can read this!

How is your weekend going so far? I hope that you are doing well today.

I’ve had a pretty good week, though now I am preparing for more travel that I have coming up, so that is something to keep me busy.

As usual, I am here to wrap up my week by sharing this week’s comic book haul – it’s a pretty big one this week, as I had to pick up two week’s worth of issues.

As always, I will start with the single issue comics, then move on to the graphic novels/collected works.

Let’s jump right in shall we?

Single Issue Comics

Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Issue #7. Cover A/Regular Cover.

I actually need to catch up with reading this series, but I always look forward to the cover art by Simone Di Meo.

Titans: Beast World. Issue #1. Cover A/Regular Cover.

The Beast World event has begun; after fighting off an intergalactic threat, all of the heroes of Earth have to face something far worse, one of their own!

What is Amanda Waller’s ultimate plan?

Knowing what little I do of this event, I’m actually kind of excited for it.

Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic. Issue #5. Cover A/Regular Cover.

The pen-ultimate issue of this mini-series. Terry and Kyle have located the missing children in the Garden. What will they do when the Eldritch heart of Gotham City begins to rise to the surface and threaten Neo-Gotham? I guess we’ll find out next time!

Plot Holes. Issue #4. Cover A/Regular Cover.

I am still on the hunt for issue #2 so I can continue reading this series, the premise is just so cool, and I love Sean Murphy’s writing!

Batman. Issue #140. Cover A/Regular Cover.

Can Bruce wrestle back control of his body from Zur, before Zur can put an end to the Joker once and for all?

That’s it for single-issue comics, so now I’ll move onto the Graphic Novels/Collected Works.

Graphic Novels/Collected Works

Batman Adventures: Nightwing Rising.

From the Batman Adventures Comics, based on the amazing Animated Series – we learn how Dick Grayson moved on from being Robin, and his journey to becoming Nightwing.

We also see the introduction of Tim Drake as the new Robin.

Batman Beyond: 10,000 Clowns.

Terry takes on the Jokerz Gang, and the Joker King in this storyline.

I’m always happy to find more Terry McGinnis Batman to read, so I was really stoked when I found this at one of my local comic book stores.

Batman Beyond: Batgirl Beyond.

There’s a new Batgirl in Neo-Gotham. How will current Batman, Terry McGinnis, and former Batgirl, Barbara Gordon deal with it?

Another Adam Beechen Batman Beyond that I am excited to have as part of my comic library!

My weekend was busy, but a lot of fun!

I’m thinking of moving my weekly comic book hauls to Monday permanently, as I think I’ll be able to keep up with it a bit better – that and we’re approaching the time of year when I’ll be doing a lot of traveling, so my Sundays will not be as free as they usually are!

I’m looking forward to spending some time with my family over the holiday, and hopefully catching up on some comic reading!

As usual, I’m here today to close out the week with my comic book haul – this one is another short one I am afraid.

That being said, let’s jump right in!

Single Issue Comics

As usual, I will start with the single issue comics that I picked up.

Batman & Robin. Issue #3. Regular Cover.

Batman and Robin continue to try and uncover the mystery behind Shush, and we get to see Robin’s new vehicle in action!

World’s Finest: Teen Titans. Issue #5. Regular Cover.

Tension between the team threaten to tear them apart when someone from their past shows up looking for revenge – can the Titans band together?

P.S. I adore the cover for this one – it’s really cool to see Dick actually acting like a teenager.

Graphic Novels/Collected Works

Next up is the Graphic Novels/Collected Works that I picked up this week!

Injustice: Year Zero – The Complete Collection.

This is the final piece I needed to complete my Injustice Collection, so I picked it up from my local comic book store.

I haven’t read this yet, but I am curious as to what it will add to the lore of the series.
