Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you today? How has your week been going? Are you looking forward to the weekend? Has life been treating you well?

I’m doing relatively OK. I’m a little bit off thanks to the change in the seasons, but I am sure that once the weather evens out, I will feel much better.

Today’s post is my weekly roundup of new comic releases that I picked up from my local shop yesterday.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Batman. Issue #13. Cover A.

Absolute Catwoman has arrived, and she is just as fearsome as her Batman counterpart.

I really like the way that the relationship between Bruce and Selina has been established in this universe.

Finally, it seems as though Bruce is ready to take on Bane. How will Harley Quinn factor in to things going forward?

Batman & Robin. Issue #26. Cover A.

The true target of the Quiet Man’s killings has been revealed. Will he go through Batman, Robin, Penguin, and Two-Face all to get to his man?

I do like that we have been exploring new villains in this run, instead of just defaulting to the same things again and again.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice #4.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice. Issue #4. Cover A.

The League for Justice comes together to face off with General Zod.

What is Lex Luthor planning, and how does it involve Adam Strange?

Variant Covers

Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween #9.

DC KO. Issue #1. Variant Cover by Dan Mora.

DC KO kicks off with a bang.

Earth’s heroes have only 7 days to put together the plan that will stop Darkseid’s return and subsequent path of destruction.

I’ll probably talk about this a little bit in a separate post, but I feel like we’re re-using a plot point way too soon after a previous storyline – other than that, I am looking forward to seeing how the writers handle making all of these heroes fight each other.

I’m also really looking forward to the crossover with the Absolute universe.

New Comic Day: 1st October 2025

How are you today? How has your week been treating you? Do you have anything planned for the weekend?

I’m doing very well. I’m going to the Ren Faire this weekend, and getting to hang out with some of my dearest friends, which I am very excited about.

Today’s post is my weekly roundup of new comic releases that I picked up from my local shop. I apologise that it is a day late.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Batman. Issue #2. Cover A.

The new Batman run continues by re-introducing us to Tim Drake, who is once again taking up the mantle of Robin.

There are some cute flashback moments, showing Bruce and Tim’s dynamic, as well as some brotherly rivalry between Tim and Damian.

Not everything is sunshine in Gotham though, as Vandal Savage finds his opportunity to turn the police against Batman and Robin.

Gotham Academy: First Year. Issue #1. Cover A.

Justice League Unlimited: The Omega Pact (One-Shot)

Justice League Unlimited: The Omega Pact. Issue #1. One-Shot. Cover A.

In this prelude to DC KO. the Time Trapper shows Booster Gold the future that awaits the Justice League in the wake of Darkseid’s defeat in this universe.

Let’s just say that no future is looking good right now – will Booster Gold, and the Flash, be able to warn Superman and the rest of the League of what’s coming before it’s too late?

Variant Covers

Absolute Evil. Issue #1. One-Shot. Variant Cover by Fabrizio de Tommazo.

The Absolute Justice League comes together – to maintain the status-quo.

We meet Oliver Queen and Absolute Hawkman in this issue, as well as getting a good look at all of our main villains.

It’s a cool new layer to the Absolute Universe, and I am excited to see where they go next.

Absolute Superman. Issue #12. Variant Cover by Kris Anka.

The Battle for Kansas begins. Will Kal and Sol, with the help of Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, be able to hold back the might of Ra’s al-Ghul and the Lazarus Corporation.

Will Kal be able to defend the closest place to home that he has ever known on Earth, or will Ra’s claim him as his son, and crown him Son of the Demon?

We start to learn more about Bruce’s history as he takes on the Bane of Man.

As we head towards DC KO, the Watchtower is full of Parademons, and the Time Ripper is able to deliver his message. What could it mean for the Justice League – and the rest of the world at the same time.

Detective Comics. Issue #1101. Variant Cover by Frank Cho & Sabine Rich.

A new virus is on it’s way to Gotham – and Batman is infected.

New History of the DC Universe. Issue #3. Variant Cover by Chris Samnee & Giovanna Niro.

Absolute Superman. Issue #11. Cover A.

Brainiac’s torture and brain washing of Kal begins – can he twist him into the Son of the Demon that Ra’s wants so badly?

Or will the Superman overcome?

This is still my favourite of the Absolute universe runs, and I’ve been loving Carmine Di Giandomenico’s run as the artist.

Variant Covers

Absolute Superman. Issue #11. Variant Cover by Jae Lee & June Chung.

Batman. Issue #1. Foil Variant Cover by Jorge Jiminez.

It’s a whole new start for Batman, and I’m pretty excited about it. I love the new designs for Batman and Robin, and the story is off to a good start with Batman being a detective, and being willing to question his understanding of things.

I hope that this continues to be a good run, and I am looking forward to the return of Anarky.

New Comic Day – 27th August 2025

How are you today? Has your week been going well? Any fun plans for the upcoming weekend?

I’m doing well today. I’m looking forward to the holiday weekend, though I am going to be spending most of it getting ready for my vacation.

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of new comic releases that I picked up from my local store.

Let’s get into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Immortal Legend Batman. Issue #1. Cover A.

Immortal Legend Batman is finally here! This is definitely a new direction for the character, and feels very Power Ranger-esque. I think I’m going to enjoy it based on this first issue, but I’m going to let things develop a little bit more before I really decide.

The art style is lovely though, as you can expect when Dan Mora is involved.

Justice League Unlimited. Issue #10. Cover A.

The Justice League is starting to show it’s cracks after the betrayal of Air Wave and the aftermath of We Are Yesterday.

Bruce is showing his paranoia again, which makes sense, but I hope that it doesn’t devolve too far, we’ve seen that story before, and it will be boring to see it again.

Robin & Batman: Jason Todd. Issue #3. Cover A.

Batman rushes to find Jason after his new Robin joins forces with the mysterious Wraith. Will Jason betray what Bruce has been teaching him? Will his time as Robin come to an end.

I’ll probably make a separate post discussing my thoughts on this run – because I have a number of them, so stay tuned for that.

Graphic Novels

Red Hood: The Lost Days.

Collects Red Hood: The Lost Days 1-6 and is a re-print for 2025.

New Comic Day – 20th August 2025

How are you today? How has your week been going? Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

I apologise for missing last week’s post – I was dealing with a family situation that kept me from really having time to post, or even pick up my comics.

I’m doing OK though.

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of new releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Batman. Issue #11. Cover A.

We learn the story behind Bane, and how he came to be the utter monster that he is in this universe. We also get a small glimpse into Absolute Joker, and the role he is going to play in the wider story.

Will Bruce allow himself to be broken? To become something greater in the aftermath?

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #10. Cover A.

Two-Face and Clayface have teamed up and put their plan into action!

Just as Batman and Robin are starting to work together – what nefarious plan will pull them apart?

I’m definitely enjoying this run, and watching the bond build between Bruce and Dick, actually seeing some give and take from both sides.

Nightwing. Issue #129. Cover A.

The torment of Nite-wing, and the takeover of Titans Tower are finally at a close. A new hero emerges from the aftermath – will he prove to be an ally to Nightwing, or another obstacle that Dick ends up having to juggle.

This issue is full of a lot of cute moments, including some find memories between Dick and Alfred.

Titans. Issue #26. Cover A.

Cyborg and Beast Boy on a vacation together? What could go wrong?

Throw in a couple of missing members of the Doom Patrol and I’m sure it will be a lot.

I still think this run is speeding through storylines too quickly, but I’ll wait and see if they’re building to something in the future.

Variant Covers

Absolute Flash. Issue #6. Variant Cover by David Talaski.

It’s all about the Rogues in this issue, we learn how the group was brought together, and how they got their updated powers.

Detective Comics. Issue #1100. Variant Cover by Bruno Redondo.

This landmark issues features a collection of short stories of the Dark Knight at his very best. Ace the Bat-Hound even makes an adorable appearance.

With all of the dark Batman stories going around, it’s lovely to see some of the positive sides to Bruce, and the things that really make him a hero.

Nightwing. Issue #129. Variant Cover by Jorge Fornes.

Couldn’t resist this variant cover, I just love the graffiti style are and the sign to Bludhaven.

Graphic Novels

Absolute Superman. Volume 1: Last Dust of Krypton.

Collects issue 1-6 of Absolute Superman.

Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween. Issue #8. Cover A.

The mystery surrounding the new Holiday Murders is starting to unravel. Batman works with Jim Gordon to hunt down Harvey Dent. What is Catwoman’s plan and role in all of this?

Nightwing. Annual 2025 (One-Shot). Cover A.

We finally learn some of the history of the Cirque de Sin in this year’s Nightwing Annual. There are still some mysteries to reveal, but it feels good to know more about their interest in Nightwing, as well as the background of Olivia.

Titans. Annual 2025 (One-Shot). Cover A.

This retrospective on Donna Troy is an adorable and heartbreaking story. We get Donna’s story from her perspective and her growth as a hero.

It was a refreshing break from the seeming break neck pace that we are going through storylines in the Titans’ run so far.

I’m still exhausted from traveling over the weekend, but I’m doing pretty well otherwise. I’m really excited to go and see the new Superman film this weekend! Is anyone else going to see it?

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of all the new releases that I picked up from my local comic shop.

Let’s dive right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Superman. Issue #9. Cover A.

Kal is now reluctantly working with the Omega Men; with so many people trying to influence him – what will he decide to do?

Can Kal keep helping people, or does his growing anger threaten to overtake that desire?

Batman & Robin. Issue #23. Cover A.

We learn the secret of Memento’s origins, as well as what he wants with Robin. Batman has found his son, but can be still save him?

Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman. Issue #2.

Finally, a depiction of Jason Todd’s Robin who isn’t just angry, and it came from Tom King.

This series has been really cute so far, and I love the Jon Kent and Damian Wayne corgis – they are completely adorable.

Variant Covers

Absolute Superman. Issue #9. Variant Cover by Leirix.

This cover is just gorgeous.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice #1

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice. Issue #1. Variant Cover by Seba Fiumara.

The “Gotham by Gaslight” steampunk series continues with the formation of the Justice League. The gang is in Smallville to recruit the Kryptonian. What are Harley Quinn and the other villains trying to steal for Lex Luthor?

I really enjoy this Elseworlds series, and I am glad that it is continuing.

Graphic Novels

Batman & Robin: Memento.

This collects together Batman & Robin Issues 14-19. The beginning of the Memento case, leading up to Damian’s shocking decision about this future.

This new villain to the Batman Mythos has been really enjoyable – though the story isn’t finished yet, at least the beginning is easier to read all in one place.
