How has the week been treating you? Are you looking forward to the weekend?

I’m doing well, though I’m still kind of tired. The weather has been kind of gloomy, which I’ve been enjoying.

Today’s post is my weekly round up of new comic releases that I picked up yesterday from my local comic book store.

Single Issues

Absolute Flash. Issue #13. Cover A.

Wally is being plagued by nightmares after the los of his father. He’s found his way back to the Dibny Youth Mission – where everyone seems to want to know about his powers.

He opens up to Linda about his past, and everything that has been going on.

Together they return to Fort Fox to look for clues about Wally’s Dad – what will they find, and what does the Mirror Master have planned for them?

Nightwing. Issue #136. Cover A.

The Crossroads story line starts here.

Bludhaven is still reeling in the aftermath of the Cirque du Sin incident.

The new Mayor is using the opportunity to make changes, and Dick isn’t sure that he likes what he sees.

On the Superhighway one night, he finds himself in a car with a strange woman, asking to be taken to the Crossroads, and speaking of witches.

An unusual conversation ensues, followed quickly by a tragedy that shakes Nightwing to his core. Can he put the pieces of this mystery together before more people meet an unfortunate end?

Titans. Issue #33. Cover A.

Do you ever feel like you’re just reliving the same events on repeat?

The coffee machine in Titans Tower has started talking to Nighwing, telling him that he’s in danger. Can he listen to the static interference coming from a household appliance?

The Titans aref trapped in an endless loop, facing the same enemies and betrayals. Can the New Titans save them from this unending nightmare?

Can Nightwing put down the coffee?

I’m just enjoying the rain at the moment!

Today’s post is my weekly roundup of new comic releases that I picked up yesterday from my local comic book shop.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Flash. Issue #12. Cover A.

Wally has stopped running away from his fears, instead choosing to face them head on.

Two will be reunited with their captive fathers, but only one will get to keep them.

Will Fort Fox survive? What will be lost in this Clash of the Flashes? Where will everyone be left when the dust settles?

Absolute Superman. Issue #17. Cover A.

Grotesque parasites have taken over Metropolis! Every person trapped inside seemingly faces an eternal nightmare – trapped in fear in order to feed the creature.

Can Superman give the people of the city the hope, and courage, they need to overcome? Is he beginning to embrace the name that the world has chosen for him?

Was this all just a distraction from other forces at work?

What does Brainiac want with Lex Luthor?

Batman. Issue #7. Cover A.

The Joker is back, and he wants to speak with the Batman.

What is the Crown Prince of Crime planning? Does he just want to talk? What will Batman do with the information, the warning, that he has been given?

Batman/Static Beyond. Issue #4. Cover A.

Shutdown has attacked the heroes of Dakota.

His motives become clearer as he seeks to take out Static Shock permanently. Is all of this the tantrum of a neglected child?

Meanwhile, Terry is left to deal with the ramifications of a global blackout on Neo-Gotham. He gets help from the shadows.

Just as it seems the group is coming up with a plan, Cadmus shows up to arrest Static!

DC KO. Issue #5. Cover A.

Thius is it. The Omega Tournament is over, and the victor is… Lex Luthor!?

Maybe, but then again, maybe not. A sacrifice by an old enemy brings Superman back into the game at a crucial moment. Can he defeat Darkseid?

Will the universe be reborn in Superman’s image?

This ending didn’t really surprise me if I’m honest, but I look forward to seeing how it affects the DC Multiverse going forward.

The Nice House by the Sea. Issue #8. Cover A.

Graphic Novels

Nightwing: Leaping into the Light. DC Compact Edition.

Another addition to my DC Compact library. I’m really excited to have this in a format that I can easily carry with me on the go.

I hope that more of this series gets the Compact edition treatment.

Nightwing prepares to take on the Cirque du Sin, and the only one who can help him is the Martian Manhunter. Even then, he has to face the Zanni alone.

What awauts Nightwing when he arrives?

Will he save the children of Bludhaven?

Titans. Issue #30. Cover A.

It’s Cyborg vs Swamp Thing in a best 2 out of 3 fight.

Can Victor come out on top over the very Earth itself?

I’m doing OK today – keeping myself busy, looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

Today’s post is my weekly roundup of new comic releases that I picked up from my local shop.

Single Issues

Absolute Flash. Issue #9. Cover A.

Wally joins up with the rogues, all for his father’s sake, but is there a traitor among them? The details of Thawne’s plan start to come together.

Nightwing. Issue #132. Cover A.

The Zanni, Olivia, and the Cirque du Sin put their plan into action – what will the spotlight do to Nightwing? Will he be able to save the children who continue to go missing around Bludhaven?

While I am enjoying this stoeyline, I feel like we’re recycling the same plot point from the arc with Heartless, except with Nightwing instead of Dick directly.

Titans. Issue #29. Cover A.

The evacuation of Earth continues in another DC KO tie-in. Each Titan will face different challenges, enemies from the past, and who knows what else.

I like how this issue leads into Cyborg’s arc in DC KO.

Variant Covers

Nightwing. Issue #132. Variant Cover by Paolo Pantalena.

Batman/Deadpool. One-shot. Variant cover by Bruno Redondo.

I really enjoyed this crossover. I won’t say too much about it here – I’m just glad that I was able to get this cover.

Absolute Flash. Issue #8. Cover A.

We learn more about the backstory of Barry Allen, and his work at Fort Fox. What does the mysterious Dr Thawne want with the power of the ‘red energy’?

Nightwing. Issue #131. Cover A.

It feels as though we’re finally moving into the main arc of the story, with the Cirque beginning to take centre stage. Children in Bludhaven are going missing – will Nightwing and the police department be able to work together to find them?

How will Nightwing deal with being a mentor to a young hero?

Titans. Issue #28. Cover A.

In this tie-in with DK KO, the evacuation of Earth has begun, as the heroes who stayed behind, namely the Titans, try to get every human being off the planet before the arrival of Darkseid.

New Comic Day – 20th August 2025

How are you today? How has your week been going? Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

I apologise for missing last week’s post – I was dealing with a family situation that kept me from really having time to post, or even pick up my comics.

I’m doing OK though.

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of new releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Batman. Issue #11. Cover A.

We learn the story behind Bane, and how he came to be the utter monster that he is in this universe. We also get a small glimpse into Absolute Joker, and the role he is going to play in the wider story.

Will Bruce allow himself to be broken? To become something greater in the aftermath?

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #10. Cover A.

Two-Face and Clayface have teamed up and put their plan into action!

Just as Batman and Robin are starting to work together – what nefarious plan will pull them apart?

I’m definitely enjoying this run, and watching the bond build between Bruce and Dick, actually seeing some give and take from both sides.

Nightwing. Issue #129. Cover A.

The torment of Nite-wing, and the takeover of Titans Tower are finally at a close. A new hero emerges from the aftermath – will he prove to be an ally to Nightwing, or another obstacle that Dick ends up having to juggle.

This issue is full of a lot of cute moments, including some find memories between Dick and Alfred.

Titans. Issue #26. Cover A.

Cyborg and Beast Boy on a vacation together? What could go wrong?

Throw in a couple of missing members of the Doom Patrol and I’m sure it will be a lot.

I still think this run is speeding through storylines too quickly, but I’ll wait and see if they’re building to something in the future.

Variant Covers

Absolute Flash. Issue #6. Variant Cover by David Talaski.

It’s all about the Rogues in this issue, we learn how the group was brought together, and how they got their updated powers.

Detective Comics. Issue #1100. Variant Cover by Bruno Redondo.

This landmark issues features a collection of short stories of the Dark Knight at his very best. Ace the Bat-Hound even makes an adorable appearance.

With all of the dark Batman stories going around, it’s lovely to see some of the positive sides to Bruce, and the things that really make him a hero.

Nightwing. Issue #129. Variant Cover by Jorge Fornes.

Couldn’t resist this variant cover, I just love the graffiti style are and the sign to Bludhaven.

Graphic Novels

Absolute Superman. Volume 1: Last Dust of Krypton.

Collects issue 1-6 of Absolute Superman.

I’m hoping to enjoy a couple of lazy days this weekend. Other than that I am doing pretty well.

Today’s post is my weekly round up of new releases that I picked up from my local comic store.

Absolute Flash. Issue #4. Cover A.

Wally and Grodd are on the run together – and the find shelter at a local youth mission. Might Wally have made an ally here? Also – what other experiments were going on? What has been unleashed?

Really enjoying this run so far – it’s refreshing to see a teenage main character act and think like a teen.

Nightwing. Issue #127. Cover A.

There’s something freaky going on in Bludhaven – and it’s taking over the Titans Tower. Nightwing is torn between a family obligation and saving the person he loves most.

Titans. Issue #24. Cover A.

Terra’s back! That means bad news for the Titans as the master maniupulator turns one of their own against them. Will Beast Boy be able to put his feelings aside and do what needs to be done?

Will Roy and Donna ever be able to have that talk?

Variant Covers

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #8. Variant Cover by Evan “Doc” Shaner.

Are the Dynamic Duo finally learning to work together? It is coming together too late? Bruce is beginning to understand his misgivings about being a father, and Clayface is closing in on the Batman.

I adore this cover so much!

Detective Comics. Issue #1098. Variant Cover by Stephen Byrne.

Batman and the Penguin working together? If it means solving the mystery of Elixir, then I guess so. Don’t forget to add Harvey Bullock to the mix.

It starts out as a rescue mission – but how will it end.

I think this is the only Pride cover that I picked up this month and it is definitely a good one!

Grodd’s design is adorable, and a little unsettling all at the same time.

Batman and Robin are starting to figure out their dynamic. Two-Face attempts to recruit Clayface. Someone is following Bruce – will they discover his secret?

Detective Comics. Issue #1097. Cover A.

Now that Asema is behind bars, Batman moves on to the next part of the mystery – the organisation behind her. Is Harvey Bullock the only one who can help?

It’s really cool to start seeing detective work become part of the story again.

Nightwing. Issue #126. Cover A.

The secret of Captain Hallow is revealed, and the Commissioner realises that there is no-one she can trust.

Will she be able to put her trust in Nightwing? And have they stopped Captain Hallow for good?

Titans. Issue #23. Cover A.

The Titans are trying to adjust to their newest member. Is Vanadia all that appears, or could something more sinister be lurking within her circuits?

Compendiums

Nightwing: A Knight in Bludhaven. Compendium #2.

Nightwing’s new life in Bludhaven continues as Dick Grayson decides to become a member of the Bludhaven Police Force. Will he be able to change things from the inside?

I love having these stories in Compendium format – it makes them much easier to binge read.

New Comic Day – 16th April 2025

How are you today? How have things been going? Have you gotten upto anything fun lately?

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of all the new releases I picked up at my local comic shop.

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Single Issues

Detective Comics. Issue #1096. Cover A.

Asema’s reign of terror over Gotham’s troubled youth comes to an end, and their identity is revealed.

I really liked Bruce’s arc in this storyline, even if his romantic interest is a controversial choice. I also appreciate the appearance of the whole Bat-Family in this issue.

Absolute Flash. Issue #2. Cover A.

We see more of Wally coming to understand his powers as the Rogues attempt to capture him.

The art style in this comic is amazing, and the colour work compliments it beautifully.

Nightwing. Issue #125. Cover A.

A new threat is stalking the Bludhaven Police Force, punishing those who violate “the law.”

I think this is a weird swerve away from the story that was already being established, but we’ll see where it goes.

Titans. Issue #22. Cover A.

Deathstroke is back, and he has put together a whole new death squad. He doesn’t seem to be the one calling the shots this time – how long will Slade co-operate?

How will the Titans handle the return of one of their deadliest enemies?

I feel like we’re moving through stories too fast in this series. I know theres an overarching plot in the background, but it still feels rushed to me.
