The Man of Steel finally comes face to face with the head of the Lazarus Corporation, as well as the Head of the Demon – Ra’s al Ghul. Will Kal-El become the Son of the Demon, and let his anger rule him, or will he resist?

Red Hood: Outlaws. Volume 4.

Absolute Batman. Volume 1: The Zoo.

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. Volume 7: Total Eclipso.

Justice League Unlimited. Volume 1: Into the Inferno.

Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween. Issue #8. Cover A.

The mystery surrounding the new Holiday Murders is starting to unravel. Batman works with Jim Gordon to hunt down Harvey Dent. What is Catwoman’s plan and role in all of this?

Nightwing. Annual 2025 (One-Shot). Cover A.

We finally learn some of the history of the Cirque de Sin in this year’s Nightwing Annual. There are still some mysteries to reveal, but it feels good to know more about their interest in Nightwing, as well as the background of Olivia.

Titans. Annual 2025 (One-Shot). Cover A.

This retrospective on Donna Troy is an adorable and heartbreaking story. We get Donna’s story from her perspective and her growth as a hero.

It was a refreshing break from the seeming break neck pace that we are going through storylines in the Titans’ run so far.

How are you today? How has your week been going so far?

I’m still exhausted from traveling over the weekend, but I’m doing pretty well otherwise. I’m really excited to go and see the new Superman film this weekend! Is anyone else going to see it?

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of all the new releases that I picked up from my local comic shop.

Let’s dive right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Superman. Issue #9. Cover A.

Kal is now reluctantly working with the Omega Men; with so many people trying to influence him – what will he decide to do?

Can Kal keep helping people, or does his growing anger threaten to overtake that desire?

Batman & Robin. Issue #23. Cover A.

We learn the secret of Memento’s origins, as well as what he wants with Robin. Batman has found his son, but can be still save him?

Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman. Issue #2.

Finally, a depiction of Jason Todd’s Robin who isn’t just angry, and it came from Tom King.

This series has been really cute so far, and I love the Jon Kent and Damian Wayne corgis – they are completely adorable.

Variant Covers

Absolute Superman. Issue #9. Variant Cover by Leirix.

This cover is just gorgeous.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice #1

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice. Issue #1. Variant Cover by Seba Fiumara.

The “Gotham by Gaslight” steampunk series continues with the formation of the Justice League. The gang is in Smallville to recruit the Kryptonian. What are Harley Quinn and the other villains trying to steal for Lex Luthor?

I really enjoy this Elseworlds series, and I am glad that it is continuing.

Graphic Novels

Batman & Robin: Memento.

This collects together Batman & Robin Issues 14-19. The beginning of the Memento case, leading up to Damian’s shocking decision about this future.

This new villain to the Batman Mythos has been really enjoyable – though the story isn’t finished yet, at least the beginning is easier to read all in one place.

I’m hoping to enjoy a couple of lazy days this weekend. Other than that I am doing pretty well.

Today’s post is my weekly round up of new releases that I picked up from my local comic store.

Single Issues

Absolute Flash. Issue #4. Cover A.

Wally and Grodd are on the run together – and the find shelter at a local youth mission. Might Wally have made an ally here? Also – what other experiments were going on? What has been unleashed?

Really enjoying this run so far – it’s refreshing to see a teenage main character act and think like a teen.

Nightwing. Issue #127. Cover A.

There’s something freaky going on in Bludhaven – and it’s taking over the Titans Tower. Nightwing is torn between a family obligation and saving the person he loves most.

Titans. Issue #24. Cover A.

Terra’s back! That means bad news for the Titans as the master maniupulator turns one of their own against them. Will Beast Boy be able to put his feelings aside and do what needs to be done?

Will Roy and Donna ever be able to have that talk?

Variant Covers

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #8. Variant Cover by Evan “Doc” Shaner.

Are the Dynamic Duo finally learning to work together? It is coming together too late? Bruce is beginning to understand his misgivings about being a father, and Clayface is closing in on the Batman.

I adore this cover so much!

Detective Comics. Issue #1098. Variant Cover by Stephen Byrne.

Batman and the Penguin working together? If it means solving the mystery of Elixir, then I guess so. Don’t forget to add Harvey Bullock to the mix.

It starts out as a rescue mission – but how will it end.

I think this is the only Pride cover that I picked up this month and it is definitely a good one!

Let’s dive right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Batman & Robin. Issue #22. Cover A.

Memento has Robin held captive; so Batman will have to turn to the world of magic and the eldritch to find his son.

It’s so good to hear Etrigan’s rhyming verse again, though I am a little confused by Jason Blood’s design.

DC vs Vampires: World War V. Issue #10. Cover A.

Robin & Batman: Jason Todd. Issue #1. Cover A.

A new story and sequel to Robin & Batman. So far I’m disappointed that this is just another “dangerous, reackless & angry Robin” story for Jason. I’m genuinely tired of that narrative for him, especially when he wasn’t like that as Robin.

It’s only a 3 part series though, so maybe something different will happen. We can only hope right?

Variant Covers

Absolute Batman. Issue #9. Variant Cover by Tirso.

Absolute Bane is here and he is a monster. I am relieved that is intelligent though, Bane stories are always so much better when he’s more than just a brute.

I’m curious to see how Venom works in the Absolute Universe, and how Bruce will handle this new foe.

The Hush 2 saga continues and everything is really going to hell. Why is Jason working with Hush? Why does Edward Nygma want to help out the Bat-Family? Damian is working with Bane!?

I’ll let the story continue to evolve before I really make my thoughts know.

I am enjoying both Jason and Dick in Jim Lee’s art style though.

Justice League Unlimited. Issue #7. Cover A.

I have to catch up with the rest of the “We Are Yesterday” events before I can read this one.

Has Wally finally found an ally in this mad new world of his?

Grodd’s design is adorable, and a little unsettling all at the same time.

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #7. Cover A.

Batman and Robin are starting to figure out their dynamic. Two-Face attempts to recruit Clayface. Someone is following Bruce – will they discover his secret?

Detective Comics. Issue #1097. Cover A.

Now that Asema is behind bars, Batman moves on to the next part of the mystery – the organisation behind her. Is Harvey Bullock the only one who can help?

It’s really cool to start seeing detective work become part of the story again.

Nightwing. Issue #126. Cover A.

The secret of Captain Hallow is revealed, and the Commissioner realises that there is no-one she can trust.

Will she be able to put her trust in Nightwing? And have they stopped Captain Hallow for good?

Titans. Issue #23. Cover A.

The Titans are trying to adjust to their newest member. Is Vanadia all that appears, or could something more sinister be lurking within her circuits?

Compendiums

Nightwing: A Knight in Bludhaven. Compendium #2.

Nightwing’s new life in Bludhaven continues as Dick Grayson decides to become a member of the Bludhaven Police Force. Will he be able to change things from the inside?

I love having these stories in Compendium format – it makes them much easier to binge read.

Batman. Issue #159. Cover A.

The Hush Sequel continues and Red Hood makes his appearance! Is Jason working with Bruce’s former best friend – and what will he do to the Joker?

I guess we’ll find out as the story continues.

As a side note – this is more Jason Todd character whiplash – I might make a separate post going over my thoughts on it – so stay tuned!

Justice League Unlimited. Issue #6. Cover A.

We are Yesterday continues as Gorilla Grodd explains his plans, as well as the founding of Inferno – using a group of supervillains from the past. He has Martian Manhunter’s powers – will the League be able to stop them?

Manga

Batman: Justice Buster. Volume #4.

The final volume in this manga mini-series. Batman and Robin finally become a dynamic duo as Bruce faces Joe Chill.

I’ve really enjoyed this series, and definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to read a Batman story in a different format. We’ll see if it gets a sequel.

Omnibus

Nightwing: Rebirth Omnibus.

Collects Nightwing: Rebirth #1 and Nightwing #1-43.

Variant Covers

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of all the new releases I picked up at my local comic shop.

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Single Issues

Detective Comics. Issue #1096. Cover A.

Asema’s reign of terror over Gotham’s troubled youth comes to an end, and their identity is revealed.

I really liked Bruce’s arc in this storyline, even if his romantic interest is a controversial choice. I also appreciate the appearance of the whole Bat-Family in this issue.

Absolute Flash. Issue #2. Cover A.

We see more of Wally coming to understand his powers as the Rogues attempt to capture him.

The art style in this comic is amazing, and the colour work compliments it beautifully.

Nightwing. Issue #125. Cover A.

A new threat is stalking the Bludhaven Police Force, punishing those who violate “the law.”

I think this is a weird swerve away from the story that was already being established, but we’ll see where it goes.

Titans. Issue #22. Cover A.

Deathstroke is back, and he has put together a whole new death squad. He doesn’t seem to be the one calling the shots this time – how long will Slade co-operate?

How will the Titans handle the return of one of their deadliest enemies?

I feel like we’re moving through stories too fast in this series. I know theres an overarching plot in the background, but it still feels rushed to me.

The introductory story is over, and we’re starting something new. Gotham City is changing, and not in the way Bruce had hoped. The death of a childhood friend sends Bruce, and the Batman, down a chilling road.

What will Batman find in the Ice?

Batman & Robin. Issue #20. Cover A.

Memento has taken Robin, and Batman is still fighting off the effects of the Gravedigger’s Poppy. He’s called on the Bat-Family to find Damian, but maybe Bruce will have to believe in his son’s abilities as a detective to give him the break in the case that he needs.

Will he get to his son in time?
