Good Afternoon Nerdy Birdies!

How are you today? How is your week going? Do you have anything planned for the weekend?

My week is going pretty well so far. I don’t really have anything to complain about.

It’s time for another round up of the new DC Comics releases that I picked up for the week.

Let’s jump right into it!

Batman. Issue #149. Cover A.

Dark Prisons has come to an end, and we are headed for Absolute Power.

All of the loose ends from Zur’s reign in the Failsafe body are being tied up. What will become of Bruce’s clone? What of Batman’s relationship with Vandal Savage, the Police Commissioner, and a new home for the Bat-Family?

Nightwing. Issue #115. Cover A.

Fallen Grayson continues as we learn more about Heartless’s plans for Dick, and Nightwing. Will out hero learn to take that leap again by the end.

This one ends on a pretty good cliffhanger.

Nightwing. Issue #115. Variant Cover by Dan Mora.

Of course I couldn’t resist the Dan Mora cover!

Titans. Issue #12. Cover A.

The Titan’s deal with the threat that has invaded their home, and learn the truth of this misguided assassin.

The Dark-Winged Queen begins to reveal her plans for the Titans, leading to a surprise cliffhanger.

John Constantine – Hellblazer: Dead in America #6.

John Constantine – Hellblazer: Dead in America. Issue #6. Cover A.

I will admit that I have fallen behind with this one, but I hope to catch up with John’s spooky adventures through the United States soon.

New Comic Day – 11th June 2024

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you today? How has your week been going?

My week has been pretty good so far. Just keeping up with day to day things, trying to keep myself busy, the usual kind of stuff.

As always, I’m here to share my weekly batch of new DC Comics releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s jump right in!

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age #1.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age. Issue #1. Cover A.

I really enjoy Gotham by Gaslight – Jack the Ripper set within a Batman universe. Both the comic and the animated movie are pretty great; so naturally, I am really excited to be reading the sequel to that story!

Batman and Robin. Issue #10. Cover A.

The saga of the Man-Bat comes to an end!

I love Damian’s character in this run, especially his love for animals. His concern for the bats in this issue is really cute. I also appreciate a more wholesome Father/Son relationship between him and Bruce.

Red Hood: The Hill. Issue #5. Cover A.

Red Hood’s adventures in The Hill continue as he seeks to weed out the evil at work in his new home.

I will admit that I don’t care for this run very much, but I will see it through to the end. I just feel like this was more waster potential for Jason. If you want to focus on other characters, over the title character, maybe just write a comic run about them?

For as much as I don’t care for this run, it did give me this amazing art from Dan Mora, so there is a silver lining.

DC Pride: Uncovered. Cover by Jen Bartel.

A collection of Pride covers throughout the years. I am a little disappointed that none of the Nightwing covers are in here, but it is still a really cute piece to have in my collection.

New Comic Day – 4th June 2024

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies.

How are you? How has your week been going? Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

I’ve been away from a while, I’ve had some family stuff that I’ve been dealing with over the past couple of months. I’m back now, and I’m trying my best to get back into the swing of things.

Let’s do that by getting into the new releases from DC Comics that I picked up this week!

Batman. Issue #148. Cover A.

As the cover suggests, it’s Batman vs Batman. Can Bruce finally overcome Zur-en-Arrh and pull his family together?

Who will be the Batman who walks away in the end?

This issue has been getting quite a lot of traction on social media after the previews were released. Reading it was definitely worth it though!

Boy Wonder. Issue #2. Cover A.

The Story continues as Damian seeks out Red Hood to help him hunt down the demon. What will the 2 Robins learn about each other?

I am really enjoying this series so far, and I am excited to hopefully see all of the Robins work together! Also, Damian is just adorable in the art for this series.

My Adventures with Superman. Issue #1. Cover A.

A tie-in comic that will act as a bridge between Season 1 and 2. I just hope that this isn’t referenced in Season 2, as I don’t think you should have to read a comic tie-in to understand a TV show.

Batman: Justice Buster. Volume 3.

I wasn’t sure what to think about this manga when it first released, but I have to admit that I have been really enjoying it. It’s a unique take on the core Batman story, and I’m curious to see where it will go.

My week has been pretty good so far – things have been pretty chill. I’ve been really enjoying getting into Invincible, and I finished watching Season 1, haven’t started Season 2 yet though.

It’s time for another weekly round up of the new releases that I picked up from my local comic book store!

This one is going to be really short, but let’s jump right in!

Nightwing. Annual 2024. Cover A.

This year’s Annual for Nightwing covers the origin of Bea Bennett, Nightwing’s ex-girlfriend from his time as Ric Grayson. Turns out she’s a badass Pirate Queen, and this issue tells us exactly how she got there!

I love this moody variant cover. I always enjoy seeing the Bat-Family pictured on gargoyles!

New Comic Day – 23rd April 2024

How are you today? I hope that you are doing well, and that you have the day you deserve!

My week has been pretty good so far, I feel like things are finally calming down and I can get back into a regular routine.

As usual, I’m here today to share the new DC Comics releases that I picked up from my local comic book store yesterday, also an honourable mention!

Let’s jump right in!

Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Issue #12. Cover A.

I still need to catch up with this series, but I am excited to read more of Vampire Bruce!

The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing. Volume 2.

This collects issues 7-12 of The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing. I actually really enjoyed this series, especially the inclusion of Red Hood. It’s interesting from his perspective.

The next book is an honourable mention, I picked it up yesterday, but it is not a new release.

The Official Handbook of the Invincible Universe.

I got into this series very recently. Naturally, I can’t get into a new story slowly, so I picked up this Handbook to get more of a feel for the characters. I’m really excited to read through it!

New Comic Day – 16th April 2024

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you today? How is your week going so far? Are you looking forward to the weekend?

I am sorry that this post is a day late, I was having a really hectic day yesterday, and I just couldn’t find the time to sit down and blog. I’m going on a trip this weekend, so preparing for that has been taking all of my attention!

Let’s just get into it, and round up this week’s new DC Comics releases that I picked up.

Nightwing. Issue #113. Cover A.

This is Nightwing’s 300th issue (legacy). This features a variety of artists and sets the stage for Tom Taylor’s last story as the writer of this series!

There are a lot of really cute moments in this one!

I love the cover of this issue. John’s magical misadventures across the States continue.

Batman: White Knight presents Generation Joker.

I love the White Knight universe created by Sean Murphy, so of course I had to pick up the latest graphic novel in the series!

New Comic Day – 9th April 2024

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you today? How is your week going so far?

Did you get to see the eclipse on Monday? I sadly missed it due to cloud cover, though I did still get to experience the darkness.

My week has been going pretty well so far – I have functioning internet again, which is always exciting, and I finally feel like I am starting to get settled in my new home.

Today, as usual, I will be sharing the new comic releases that I picked up this week – let’s get right into it!

Batman/Dylan Dog. Issue #2. Cover A.

I really enjoyed the first volume of this crossover, so I am looking forward to seeing where this mini-series goes.

I want to look further into Dylan Dog thanks to this series, it’s always cool to expand my comic book experience.

Batman & Robin. Issue #8. Cover A.

Robin and Flatline’s adventure continues as they track down Flatline’s older sister. Batman meets up with Shush – but can she be trusted?

Red Hood: The Hill. Issue #3. Cover A.

I will admit that I am becoming a little frustrated with this series – but I will save that for a separate post.

The monsters are starting to come out of the woodwork now – how will Red Hood and the Watch handle this new challenge?

I absolutely love Dan Mora’s art style, and I love his variant covers, so I am glad that he is going some for Jason.

New Comic Day – 2nd April 2024

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing today? How has your week been going?

It’s been a while, and I’m finally moved into the new place, so I can get back to regular posting! Moving is just so exhausting, but the new house is starting to feel like home!

As usual for Wednesday, today I will be posting the comics I picked up yesterday from the week’s new releases – I’ll even be changing things up by including a Marvel comic in here, as well as an Indie release from Image Comics. A girl can’t always survive on DC Comics alone.

Let’s jump right in, shall we?

Batman. Issue #146. Cover A.

Dark Prisons continues as Bruce continues his struggle to escape his confines and put a stop to Failsafe!

X-Men ’97. Issue #1. Cover A.

The first Marvel comic that I have picked up in a very long time. I love the X-Men cartoon from the 90’s, and though I won’t be able to watch the new animated series for a while, I am glad that I can enjoy it vicariously through this comic!

Feral. Issue #1. Cover A.

Something a little bit new for me, as I don’t read horror comics very often at all.

One scratch turns them Feral, and now the cats are on the prowl. This came highly recommended by one of the guys at my Local Comic Book Store, so I am excited to check it out!

I move this week, so things are getting pretty hectic and stressful, but at least I have new comic book releases to get me through!

It’s time to share the comics I picked up from this week’s DC Comics release!

Flatline is back in Gotham! What kind of mischief will she and Damian be getting into?

Red Hood: The Hill. Issue #2. Cover A.

The plot thickens in the Hill. The Watch is starting to come apart – can Red Hood help them operate as a team as he helps them protect his new home?

This isn’t my favourite variant cover, but I couldn’t resist for Red Hood.

Batmna/Dylan Dog. Issue #1. Cover A.

I will admit that I picked this one up on a whim because of the cover. I don’t know much about Dylan Dog’s character, but I might look more into him if I enjoy this one.

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. Volume 3.

I’ve been enjoying reading this series in graphic novel form. Here we get to see more of the Justice League, including Green Arrow, The Flash and Wonder Woman.

W. Elorda’s Comic Corner – Geoff Johns Signing

Good Afternoon Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing today? How was your weekend? I hope that your week is off to a good start!

Today I am tearing myself away from packing to share something that actually happened a couple of weeks ago now.

My local comic book store has a signing event featuring Geoff Johns! There was an industry event in the city that I live in, and he was here for that, so the comic store managed to get him in for a few hours to do a signing! It was my first time meeting someone big in the comic book industry, as well as the writer who wrote one of my favourite DC Black Label stories, Batman: The Three Jokers!

As there was a bit of a line, I didn’t ask to get a photo with him, but below is the photo of his autograph in my Batman: Three Jokers graphic novel.

I really appreciate that he also drew a little Bat Symbol as well – it’s really cute!
