How are you today? How has your week been treating you so far? Do you have any plans for the upcoming weekend?

I’m doing pretty well – I’m feeling better now that the weather has cooled down, and I am happy that I can pull out my sweaters again.

Today’s post is my weekly roundup of new comic releases that I picked up from my local shop.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Flash. Issue #8. Cover A.

We learn more about the backstory of Barry Allen, and his work at Fort Fox. What does the mysterious Dr Thawne want with the power of the ‘red energy’?

Nightwing. Issue #131. Cover A.

It feels as though we’re finally moving into the main arc of the story, with the Cirque beginning to take centre stage. Children in Bludhaven are going missing – will Nightwing and the police department be able to work together to find them?

How will Nightwing deal with being a mentor to a young hero?

Titans. Issue #28. Cover A.

In this tie-in with DK KO, the evacuation of Earth has begun, as the heroes who stayed behind, namely the Titans, try to get every human being off the planet before the arrival of Darkseid.

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of new releases that I picked up from my local comic shop.

Absolute Superman. Issue #11. Cover A.

Brainiac’s torture and brain washing of Kal begins – can he twist him into the Son of the Demon that Ra’s wants so badly?

Or will the Superman overcome?

This is still my favourite of the Absolute universe runs, and I’ve been loving Carmine Di Giandomenico’s run as the artist.

Batman. Issue #1. Foil Variant Cover by Jorge Jiminez.

It’s a whole new start for Batman, and I’m pretty excited about it. I love the new designs for Batman and Robin, and the story is off to a good start with Batman being a detective, and being willing to question his understanding of things.

I hope that this continues to be a good run, and I am looking forward to the return of Anarky.

New Comic Day – 27th August 2025

How are you today? Has your week been going well? Any fun plans for the upcoming weekend?

I’m doing well today. I’m looking forward to the holiday weekend, though I am going to be spending most of it getting ready for my vacation.

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of new comic releases that I picked up from my local store.

Let’s get into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Immortal Legend Batman. Issue #1. Cover A.

Immortal Legend Batman is finally here! This is definitely a new direction for the character, and feels very Power Ranger-esque. I think I’m going to enjoy it based on this first issue, but I’m going to let things develop a little bit more before I really decide.

The art style is lovely though, as you can expect when Dan Mora is involved.

Justice League Unlimited. Issue #10. Cover A.

The Justice League is starting to show it’s cracks after the betrayal of Air Wave and the aftermath of We Are Yesterday.

Bruce is showing his paranoia again, which makes sense, but I hope that it doesn’t devolve too far, we’ve seen that story before, and it will be boring to see it again.

Robin & Batman: Jason Todd. Issue #3. Cover A.

Batman rushes to find Jason after his new Robin joins forces with the mysterious Wraith. Will Jason betray what Bruce has been teaching him? Will his time as Robin come to an end.

I’ll probably make a separate post discussing my thoughts on this run – because I have a number of them, so stay tuned for that.

Red Hood: The Lost Days.

Collects Red Hood: The Lost Days 1-6 and is a re-print for 2025.

New Comic Day – 20th August 2025

I apologise for missing last week’s post – I was dealing with a family situation that kept me from really having time to post, or even pick up my comics.

I’m doing OK though.

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of new releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Batman. Issue #11. Cover A.

We learn the story behind Bane, and how he came to be the utter monster that he is in this universe. We also get a small glimpse into Absolute Joker, and the role he is going to play in the wider story.

Will Bruce allow himself to be broken? To become something greater in the aftermath?

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #10. Cover A.

Two-Face and Clayface have teamed up and put their plan into action!

Just as Batman and Robin are starting to work together – what nefarious plan will pull them apart?

I’m definitely enjoying this run, and watching the bond build between Bruce and Dick, actually seeing some give and take from both sides.

Nightwing. Issue #129. Cover A.

The torment of Nite-wing, and the takeover of Titans Tower are finally at a close. A new hero emerges from the aftermath – will he prove to be an ally to Nightwing, or another obstacle that Dick ends up having to juggle.

This issue is full of a lot of cute moments, including some find memories between Dick and Alfred.

Titans. Issue #26. Cover A.

Cyborg and Beast Boy on a vacation together? What could go wrong?

Throw in a couple of missing members of the Doom Patrol and I’m sure it will be a lot.

I still think this run is speeding through storylines too quickly, but I’ll wait and see if they’re building to something in the future.

Variant Covers

Absolute Flash. Issue #6. Variant Cover by David Talaski.

It’s all about the Rogues in this issue, we learn how the group was brought together, and how they got their updated powers.

Detective Comics. Issue #1100. Variant Cover by Bruno Redondo.

This landmark issues features a collection of short stories of the Dark Knight at his very best. Ace the Bat-Hound even makes an adorable appearance.

With all of the dark Batman stories going around, it’s lovely to see some of the positive sides to Bruce, and the things that really make him a hero.

Nightwing. Issue #129. Variant Cover by Jorge Fornes.

Couldn’t resist this variant cover, I just love the graffiti style are and the sign to Bludhaven.

Graphic Novels

Absolute Superman. Volume 1: Last Dust of Krypton.

Collects issue 1-6 of Absolute Superman.

How are you today? How has your week been going so far?

I’m still exhausted from traveling over the weekend, but I’m doing pretty well otherwise. I’m really excited to go and see the new Superman film this weekend! Is anyone else going to see it?

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of all the new releases that I picked up from my local comic shop.

Let’s dive right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Absolute Superman. Issue #9. Cover A.

Kal is now reluctantly working with the Omega Men; with so many people trying to influence him – what will he decide to do?

Can Kal keep helping people, or does his growing anger threaten to overtake that desire?

Batman & Robin. Issue #23. Cover A.

We learn the secret of Memento’s origins, as well as what he wants with Robin. Batman has found his son, but can be still save him?

Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman. Issue #2.

Finally, a depiction of Jason Todd’s Robin who isn’t just angry, and it came from Tom King.

This series has been really cute so far, and I love the Jon Kent and Damian Wayne corgis – they are completely adorable.

Variant Covers

This cover is just gorgeous.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice #1

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice. Issue #1. Variant Cover by Seba Fiumara.

The “Gotham by Gaslight” steampunk series continues with the formation of the Justice League. The gang is in Smallville to recruit the Kryptonian. What are Harley Quinn and the other villains trying to steal for Lex Luthor?

I really enjoy this Elseworlds series, and I am glad that it is continuing.

Graphic Novels

Batman & Robin: Memento.

This collects together Batman & Robin Issues 14-19. The beginning of the Memento case, leading up to Damian’s shocking decision about this future.

This new villain to the Batman Mythos has been really enjoyable – though the story isn’t finished yet, at least the beginning is easier to read all in one place.

Batman. Issue #158. Cover A.

The long-awaited sequel to the Hush storyline is finally here.

What could Bruce’s former best friend have in store for Batman now that he has returned to Gotham? Whatever it is, it starts with the Joker.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how this storyline plays out, as Hush is one of my favourite Batman stories.

Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween #6

Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween. Issue #6. Cover A.

We’re now more than halfway through this story, and it feels like we’re no closer to answers. Another holiday is approaching, who will be the target this time? Will Batman, along with Robin, be able to figure out who is behind these crimes – before it’s too late?

Nightwing. Volume 7: Fallen Grayson.

The end of the Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo run of Nightwing is here in graphic novel form.

Nightwing finally faces off against Heartless – who will win the Battle for Bludhaven’s heart, and will Nightwing overcome his fear of the plunge?

New Comic Day – 19th February 2025

How are you today? How has the week been treating you so far? Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

My week has been pretty good. I attended Katsucon last week, which was a blast – thanks to some of my amazing friends. I’m getting settled back in at home now, and it’s been pretty relaxing.

Today’s post is my weekly round up of the new releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s get right into it – shall we?

Single Issues

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #5. Cover A.

Bruce and Dick continue to be at odds as a gang war is being orchestrated in Gotham’s underworld.

Batman has his first face-off with Clayface, and Robin goes off on his own – can the dynamic duo learn to work as a team, before it’s too late?

Nightwing. Issue #123. Cover A.

Nightwing continues to try and come to the heart of the conspiracy working in Bludhaven. Can he convince the gangs to trust him enough to stop a war?

Miranda’s job as Mayor is under threat – what kind of deal with the devil will she make? And how will that impact Nightwing as the story progresses?

This storyline is starting to get intriguing – not that it hasn’t been from the start. I hope that we get more circus clues in the next issue, just to keep that theme going.

Titans. Issue #20. Cover A.

Raven’s powers continue to be on the fritz, and they are affecting the other Titans.

Deathstroke’s plan is starting to come together, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it will go, and how the Titans will handle it under Donna’s leadership.

I’m giving this story another chance now that I can read it all in one go. I don’t think my opinion on it is going to change too much, but I’m willing to try.

As a Red Hood fan, I really just want to see him get decent storylines again, that actually focus on him, and don’t just use his name because it makes money.

New Comic Day – 5th February 2025

Hello Nerdy Birdies!

How are you doing today? How has your week been going? Do you have anything fun coming up this weekend?

I’m doing pretty well, at least as well as I can be. I am looking forward to visiting an Aquarium this weekend, and I have an anime convention coming up.

Today’s post is my weekly roundup of the new releases I picked up from my local comic book shop.

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Absolute Superman. Issue #4. Cover A.

Lois Lane is on the search for Superman, being fascinated by him, and the stories from the people he has saved.

We also see more of the Brainiac System, and we start to get a feeling for the scope of Kal’s activities, and the people he has helped.

I am really enjoying this series, probably the most out of all of the Absolute series so far.

Absolute Superman. Issue #4. Variant Cover by David Talaski.

I adore this cover – it is just so cool to look at.

Batman. Issue #157. Cover A.

Batman faces off against “Commander Star” as the Dying City arc comes to an end.

I have really enjoyed seeing Riddler being used as a proper villain again, though he did end up getting overshadowed a bit towards the end.

Next will be the Hush sequel, which I am really excited for!

Absolute Power Graphic Novel.

I am looking forward to reading through this storyline again all in one go.

Absolute Power: Task Force VII Graphic Novel.

I’ve been having a good week so far. I’ve been playing the Silent Hill 2 remake and I’ve really been enjoying it! Are you playing it, or are you not a fan of survival horror?

Today’s post is my weekly roundup of the new comic releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Absolute Batman. Issue #1. Cover A.

The Absolute Universe is here! This is not the Batman, or the Bruce Wayne, that you’ve come to know.

I’m a fan of Scott Snyder’s writing for the most part, so I am excited to see where this is going to go.

Batman & Robin. Issue #14. Cover A.

There’s a new group in town that Batman & Robin have to deal with, connected to Poison Ivy. As well as that, is there something from Bruce’s past coming to haunt father and son? Does it have something to do with Bruce’s father, Thomas?

DC vs Vampires: World War V. Issue #3. Cover A.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age #5.

I haven’t read this issue yet, but I absolutely adore this cover. Just look at Clark’s dorky smile, and the western style costume just looks so good on him.

Batman: The Cult. Deluxe Edition.

I’ve been waiting for this to come out so I could finally read it.

Batman takes on Deacon Blackfire, will he be turned by the Shaman’s righteous ways?

This is probably one of my favourite self-contained stories with Jason Todd as Robin.
