Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you today? How has the week been treating you? Do you have anything planned for the upcoming weekend?

I am doing well. I had some car troubles earlier in the week, which was a little bit stressful, but it’s resolved now. I’m looking forward to visiting a museum this weekend.

Today’s post is my weekly round-up of new releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s dive right into it – shall we?

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #2. Cover A.

The mysterious General continues to make his move on Gotham City. Bruce has social services breathing down his neck, waiting for him to fail to take care of Dick.

I’m really enjoying the dynamic developing between Bruce and Dick, where they don’t see eye-to-eye, and Dick not having Bruce’s full trust yet. It’s also cool to see the little moments of genuine care that Bruce allows to slip through the mask.

Batman & Robin: Year One #1 – Noir Edition.

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #1. Noir Edition.

Another Noir edition for my collection. Similar to Absolute Batman from last week, this is just a reprint of issue #1, just all in black and white. This art style also suits the noir really well.

Titans. Issue #17. Cover A.

The Clock King wants to use the memories of the Titans to figure out who they are and how to defeat them for good. Will new leader, Donna Troy, be able to rally the team to stop him?

Titans. Issue #17. Variant Cover by Rahzzah.

I love Roy’s expression on this variant cover, and Beast Boy as the little owl.

Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter. Issue #5. Cover A.

The truth of the Allwinter has been revealed – what part did Slade have to play?

New Comic Day – 16th October 2024

How are you today? How has your week been going so far? Do you have anything planned for the upcoming weekend?

My week so far has been OK. I celebrated my 10 year anniversary with my partner, which was pretty cool, but other than that the week has just been so-so.

Today’s post is my weekly round up of all of the new comic releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s jump right into it – shall we?

Batman & Robin: Year One. Issue #1. Cover A.

It’s the public debut of the dynamic duo in this new comic run! How will Gotham City react to Batman’s young new partner?

I’m curious to see where this run will go. The first issue was a good setup, and establishes the dynamic between Bruce and Dick really well.

Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter. Issue #4. Cover A.

Nightwing. Issue #118. Cover A.

The last issue of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s run of Nightwing!

Nightwing finally faces off against Heartless man-to-man! How will he defeat his latest villain, who is determined to destroy him as both Nightwing and Dick Grayson?

I am looking forward to seeing where Dan Watters and Dexter Soy take this story.

I am doing pretty well myself – I’m attending a cool event on Saturday, then going hunting for cassette tapes on Sunday.

For today though, I am here to share this week’s DC Comics releases that I picked up from my local comic book store.

Let’s get right into it, shall we?

Nightwing. Issue #117. Cover A.

Can Deadman help Nightwing overcome his fear of jumping? Will Dick learn what has been holding him back?

We’ll find out in the pen-ultimate issue of Fallen Grayson, the end of Tom Taylor’s run as Nightwing’s writer.

Nightwing. Issue #117. Super Powers Variant Cover.

I have a couple of these figures in my collection, so this cover tickled me, especially as it’s the Discowing outfit – one of my personal favourites.

Titans. Issue #14. Cover A.

Trigon continues with his plan to conquer Earth, and destroy the Titans.

I’m really excited to see more of Swamp Thing.

Gotham City Sirens. Issue #3. Cover A.

The Sirens have been captured by Punchline at her weird ranch. How will they escape?

Dark Knights of Steel: All Winter. Issue #2. Cover A.

Rose makes an appearance, but will she stand with Slade, or against him?

I’m looking forward to seeing how this series ties into the greater world of Dark Knights of Steel. It’s been pretty fun to read so far.

New Comic Day: 17th July 2024

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How are you today? How has your week been going? How has the weather been where you are.

I’ve been doing OK, I’m actively trying to sort through my backlog of graphic novels and catch up on my reading. Thankfully, it seems as though my TBR list is not as long as I had first thought!

Today’s post is my usual weekly rundown of the new comic book releases I picked up from my local shop.

Let’s jump right in, shall we?

Nightwing. Issue #116. Cover A.

The Fallen Grayson saga continues with Dick leaving Bludhaven to seek out Nanda Parbat and Deadman aka Boston Brand. Meanwhile, back in the city that Dick loves, someone else is taking up the mantle of Nightwing.

I love seeing Dick traveling with Haley in this one, and seeing her all grown up.

Nightwing. Issue #116. Variant Cover by Rian Gonzales.

I can never resist a variant cover that has Red Hood on it, plus this one is just so cute!

Nightwing. Issue #116. 1:25 Incentive Variant Cover by Tirso.

Another variant cover I just couldn’t resist. I love the Bludhaven vibe of this one, if you know what I mean.

John Constantine – Hellblazer: Dead in America #7

John Constantine – Hellblazer: Dead in America. Issue #7. Cover A.

I really need to catch up with this run, I’ve been behind since issue 4 I think. Maybe that will be what I do after work today…

Titans. Issue #13. Cover A.

The Dark-Winged Queen’s plans continue, but it seems as though she may have more to deal with than just the Titans as a mysterious visitor shows up in Hell.

Plus, Beast Boy is beginning to get his groove back after the events of Beast World, while facing off against what could be his toughest opponent ever.

Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter. Issues #1. Cover A.

Dark Knights of Steel was the comic that got me back into comics, so I was really excited to hear that it would be getting a sequel, even if an indirect one.

This series follows Slade as he battles his way through the frozen kingdoms of the North. He starts working for Vandal Savage, but where he will end up, we can only wait and see.

I’m also a big fan of Jay Kristoff, so I’m excited to read more of this story he has written.

New Comic Day – 18th June 2024

How are you today? How is your week going? Do you have anything planned for the weekend?

My week is going pretty well so far. I don’t really have anything to complain about.

It’s time for another round up of the new DC Comics releases that I picked up for the week.

Let’s jump right into it!

Batman. Issue #149. Cover A.

Dark Prisons has come to an end, and we are headed for Absolute Power.

All of the loose ends from Zur’s reign in the Failsafe body are being tied up. What will become of Bruce’s clone? What of Batman’s relationship with Vandal Savage, the Police Commissioner, and a new home for the Bat-Family?

Nightwing. Issue #115. Cover A.

Fallen Grayson continues as we learn more about Heartless’s plans for Dick, and Nightwing. Will out hero learn to take that leap again by the end.

This one ends on a pretty good cliffhanger.

Of course I couldn’t resist the Dan Mora cover!

Titans. Issue #12. Cover A.

The Titan’s deal with the threat that has invaded their home, and learn the truth of this misguided assassin.

The Dark-Winged Queen begins to reveal her plans for the Titans, leading to a surprise cliffhanger.

John Constantine – Hellblazer: Dead in America #6.

John Constantine – Hellblazer: Dead in America. Issue #6. Cover A.

I will admit that I have fallen behind with this one, but I hope to catch up with John’s spooky adventures through the United States soon.

I am sorry that this post is a day late, I was having a really hectic day yesterday, and I just couldn’t find the time to sit down and blog. I’m going on a trip this weekend, so preparing for that has been taking all of my attention!

This is Nightwing’s 300th issue (legacy). This features a variety of artists and sets the stage for Tom Taylor’s last story as the writer of this series!

There are a lot of really cute moments in this one!

My week has been going pretty well. I got back from Katsucon on Monday, and have been recovering for the past couple of days.

Heartless in Gotham City? Nightwing is back in Gotham helping Batman hunt down a killer, who has left a young child as an orphan. Something painfully familiar to both Dick and Bruce. What is the truth?

Knight Terrors: Dark Knightmares.

This collects all of the Knight Terrors of Gotham., including Batman, Nightwing, Detective Comics, Robin and Catwoman.

I really enjoyed these stories, so I am looking forward to re-reading them.

W. Elorda’s Weekly Comic Book Haul #41

Good Morning Nerdy Birdies!

How is your weekend going so far? I hope that you are doing well today.

I’ve had a pretty good week, though now I am preparing for more travel that I have coming up, so that is something to keep me busy.

As usual, I am here to wrap up my week by sharing this week’s comic book haul – it’s a pretty big one this week, as I had to pick up two week’s worth of issues.

As always, I will start with the single issue comics, then move on to the graphic novels/collected works.

Let’s jump right in shall we?

Single Issue Comics

Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Issue #7. Cover A/Regular Cover.

I actually need to catch up with reading this series, but I always look forward to the cover art by Simone Di Meo.

Titans: Beast World. Issue #1. Cover A/Regular Cover.

The Beast World event has begun; after fighting off an intergalactic threat, all of the heroes of Earth have to face something far worse, one of their own!

What is Amanda Waller’s ultimate plan?

Knowing what little I do of this event, I’m actually kind of excited for it.

Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic. Issue #5. Cover A/Regular Cover.

The pen-ultimate issue of this mini-series. Terry and Kyle have located the missing children in the Garden. What will they do when the Eldritch heart of Gotham City begins to rise to the surface and threaten Neo-Gotham? I guess we’ll find out next time!

Plot Holes. Issue #4. Cover A/Regular Cover.

I am still on the hunt for issue #2 so I can continue reading this series, the premise is just so cool, and I love Sean Murphy’s writing!

Batman. Issue #140. Cover A/Regular Cover.

Can Bruce wrestle back control of his body from Zur, before Zur can put an end to the Joker once and for all?

That’s it for single-issue comics, so now I’ll move onto the Graphic Novels/Collected Works.

Graphic Novels/Collected Works

Batman Adventures: Nightwing Rising.

From the Batman Adventures Comics, based on the amazing Animated Series – we learn how Dick Grayson moved on from being Robin, and his journey to becoming Nightwing.

We also see the introduction of Tim Drake as the new Robin.

Batman Beyond: 10,000 Clowns.

Terry takes on the Jokerz Gang, and the Joker King in this storyline.

I’m always happy to find more Terry McGinnis Batman to read, so I was really stoked when I found this at one of my local comic book stores.

Batman Beyond: Batgirl Beyond.

There’s a new Batgirl in Neo-Gotham. How will current Batman, Terry McGinnis, and former Batgirl, Barbara Gordon deal with it?

Another Adam Beechen Batman Beyond that I am excited to have as part of my comic library!
